About Naughty Poker

Updated We read the operator paperwork

Naughty Poker is a reference site about regulated online poker, casino and sports betting in the United States: which states have opened a market, who holds a licence there, and what the paperwork actually says about bonuses, payments and account rules.

21+. Play only where your state regulator allows it. We take a commission from some operators; it never moves a room up the list. Gambling problem? Call the National Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738).

The site carries two kinds of pages, and they are not mixed. The larger part is an archive of US market reporting — state coverage, bill histories, operator files and industry notes, kept with their original wording and at their original addresses, so a link made years ago still opens the page it pointed at. The smaller part is written now: section guides, state pages and the blog, rebuilt when the documents behind them change.

Who runs it

Pages are written and signed off by the Naughty Poker editorial desk. We publish under the desk rather than personal bylines: a market page can be rebuilt a dozen times in a year, and the desk answers for it, not one writer who happened to touch it first. Archive material keeps the wording of the publication that produced it and is not re-signed as ours — see who writes the site.

What a page is built from

  • state licence registers and regulator notices — the Division of Gaming Enforcement in New Jersey, the Gaming Control Board in Pennsylvania, the Gaming Control Board in Michigan, the Gaming Control Board in Nevada and their counterparts in the other regulated states;
  • the operator’s own paperwork: terms and conditions, bonus rules, the cashier page, the responsible-gaming page;
  • bill texts, committee records and court filings for anything that turns on the law;
  • official announcements of launches, closures, licence transfers and brand changes.

What we do not do

  • We do not claim to have opened accounts, deposited money or timed a withdrawal. Nothing here rests on a private session that no reader can check.
  • We do not print a number, a date or a licence detail without a document behind it. No document, no field — the sentence is left out instead.
  • We do not sell a place in a list, and no operator reads a page before it is published.
  • We are not an operator: no bets, no deposits, no accounts and no customer service for anybody else.

Some links to operators are commercial: open an account through one and we may be paid a commission. It costs you nothing, and it changes neither the wording of a page nor the order of any list — the full rule is in our editorial policy. Online gambling here is for adults of 21 and over, and only in states that regulate it. If it stops being a game, the National Problem Gambling Helpline is free and confidential on 1-800-MY-RESET.
