Updated We read the operator paperwork
This is a publication, not a service: there is nothing here to sign up for. No accounts, no registration, no newsletter, no comment form, no contests — so there is no database of readers to describe.
21+. Play only where your state regulator allows it. We take a commission from some operators; it never moves a room up the list. Gambling problem? Call the National Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738).
What is stored in your browser
Your answer to the storage notice. It is kept in your own browser’s local storage so the notice does not reappear on every page, it never leaves the device, and clearing site data removes it. No advertising script, social-network widget or tag manager of a third party runs on these pages.
Cookies the server sets
Two, and a page script sets neither: mz_vid is a random visitor number that lives for one year, and mz_src records how the visit arrived — “direct”, for example — and lives for thirty days. Both are first-party, travel over HTTPS only and are marked HttpOnly, so no script on the page can read them. They let visits be counted in aggregate, and the count of clicks on a commercial link be attributed, without a third-party counter: there is no advertising profile behind them. Clearing site data in your browser removes both.
What the server records
Like any web server, the host serving these pages writes ordinary access logs: the requesting IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser’s user-agent string. They exist to keep the site up and to deal with abuse, they are not used to profile anybody, and they are not combined with anything else or sold.
Links that leave this site
Some links to operators are commercial, and a commercial link is how the operator recognises that a visit came from here. Once you are on an operator’s site you are in its hands, under its own privacy policy and its own cookies — read them there; we cannot speak for them. Links to regulators, helplines and news sources are ordinary links with nothing attached. The disclosure itself is in our editorial policy.
The archive, and being named in it
Much of this site is reporting from the past decade, kept with its original wording. If you are named in an archive page — as a company officer, a litigant, a legislator or a player — write to [email protected] with the address of the page and what you believe is wrong or out of date. We correct errors of fact on the page itself. We will not quietly delete the record of a licence decision or a court filing, and we will say so plainly rather than ignore the request.
Questions
Anything about this page, about data we hold, or about a request to review an archive page goes to [email protected]. General background on browser storage, independent of this site, is at aboutcookies.org.
