Responsible gambling
Updated We read the operator paperwork
Online casino, poker and sports betting in the United States are for adults of 21 and over, and only inside a state that regulates them. Everything else on this site assumes that; this page does not.

21+. Play only where your state regulator allows it. We take a commission from some operators; it never moves a room up the list. Gambling problem? Call the National Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738).
Where help is reached
The National Problem Gambling Helpline is free, confidential and open every day of the year, by call, text or chat, in all fifty states: 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). It is run by the National Council on Problem Gambling, which also publishes the chat and the state-by-state directory on ncpgambling.com.
It is not an emergency line. If there is a risk to life, that is 911; for a mental-health crisis, 988.
Limits you can set before anything goes wrong
Every licensed operator in a regulated state has to offer these, and they sit in the account settings rather than in support:
- a deposit limit per day, week or month, which takes effect at once when you lower it;
- a loss limit and a session-time limit;
- a cooling-off period, which locks the account for a stretch and then reopens it;
- self-exclusion, which closes it for a fixed term or for good.
Self-exclusion also exists above the operator: the regulator of a regulated state keeps a list that covers every licensee at once, so one form removes access to all of them. The register and the form sit on the regulator’s own site — in New Jersey with the Division of Gaming Enforcement, in Pennsylvania with the Gaming Control Board.
How to tell it has stopped being a game
There is no threshold we can print for you: a sum that is harmless on one income is a crisis on another, and anybody who gives you a percentage is making it up. What is worth asking instead, and answering honestly:
- Is the money that is in play money that was meant for something else?
- Has a deposit been made to win back the last one?
- Is the time or the amount hidden from the people you live with?
- Has a limit been raised, or an exclusion lifted, to keep going?
Any one of those is reason enough to use the line above, and it costs nothing to call before being sure.
Keeping minors out
Age checks at the operator are identity checks, not a formality, and they are the reason an account asks for documents. On a shared device, the practical step is at the device level — an operating-system content filter and a separate profile — because this site, like any other, can be reached from a browser that is already logged in. Nothing here is advertising aimed at anybody under 21.
