Updated We read the operator paperwork
PokerDev was the product desk of this publication rather than its news desk. The run of essays asked how an online poker room is built and why players stay in it: one took a lesson from game design on the randomness that follows a move, one worked through player segregation — the policy of keeping players at one table apart from each other — one listed what Full Tilt Poker got right, and one tackled the puzzle of paying winning players without emptying the room.
21+. Play only where your state regulator allows it. We take a commission from some operators; it never moves a room up the list. Gambling problem? Call the National Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738).
Several of them ran first in the trade magazine Casino Enterprise Management and were reposted here. The essays themselves are not part of this archive, so the address now says what stood at it and leads to the sections where the same questions come up.
