21+ · play only where your state allows it · T&Cs apply · we may be paid if you open an account · 1-800-MY-RESETWhile PointsBet has managed to make some inroads in the US sports betting market in states where it has launched online sportsbooks, it still has some catching up to do on the online casino side. Thus far, PointsBet Casino’s offerings are quite modest. Although for sports betting fans, the integration of the casino and sportsbook might make the site attractive.
In Michigan, PointsBet online casino has partnered with the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. Over in New Jersey, the company aligned with Twin River Worldwide Holdings prior to its acquisition of Bally’s Atlantic City, which provides PointsBet a land-based partner. PointsBet currently also has market access in Pennsylvania and could launch an online casinos there next.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect to find at the PointsBet online casino, including information about welcome bonuses and other promotions, details regarding rewards programs at PointsBet, instructions for how to download the app, a discussion of site features and game selection, and details regarding banking options and customer support.
PointsBet online casino welcome bonuses
At present PointsBet has just one welcome bonus for online casino players. The offer is currently available only in Michigan, although it may also come to New Jersey soon.
For new customers in Michigan, PointsBet Casino offers risk-free bets up to $300 during your first 24 hours on the site. You can play any of the online casino games, including slots, table games and video poker, and receive back your net loss for that first day up to a maximum of $300.
Specifically, you don’t receive cash back for the refund, but rather money in the form of free spins on selected slots. These are the games on which you have to use your free spins:
- Candy Bars
- Cleopatra
- Da Vinci Diamonds
- Double Diamond
- Golden Goddess
- Red White & Blue
The 24-hour clock begins when you register for an account. That means you’ll want to deposit funds right away, opt in to the bonus and start playing, as you’ll only receive your free spins for net losses accumulated during that first day. If you play and end your first 24 hours with a profit, you don’t receive any bonus.
The good news there is no playthrough requirement associated with the free spins. Once you receive your free spins, you can use them right away, and you then have up to 30 days to do so.
That’s essentially it as far as PointsBet Casino welcome bonuses go.
Note that whether in Michigan or New Jersey, when you sign up for a PointsBet Casino account, you additionally get access to the PointsBet Sportsbook. For sportsbook users, PointsBet currently has an offer of two risk-free sports bets for up to $2,000. Those signing up for the PointsBet Casino can also claim that sportsbook offer, if they wish.
Other promotions at PointsBet Casino
There are a host of other promotions as well for ongoing users of the PointsBet Sportsbook. However there are relatively few such offers available for PointsBet Casino players as yet.
Occasionally PointsBet will offer promotions that involve both the sportsbook and the casino. For example, prior to the start of the NFL season, PointsBet invited sportsbook users to place an NFL bet of $100 or more to win a chance at receiving up to $250 worth of free spins.
Tied into that promo was a second reward for making the $100-plus NFL bet. Those who did would also receive free spins for wagering another $10 or more in the casino.
That said, casino-specific promotions are somewhat scarce on PointsBet at present. Keep an eye out, though, as the site may start introducing them as it builds up its casino offerings.
PointsBet online casino loyalty programs
PointsBet has a fairly standard rewards program associated with its sportsbook called PointsBet Rewards. The program gives bettors rewards points for every dollar they bet as well as for every dollar they win or lose. Participants can then redeem their rewards points for Free Sports Bets. However, that program is not available to PointsBet Casino players.
The casino does have a couple of VIP programs, the PointsBet Diamond Club and the PointsBet Platinum Club. Both offer “personalized benefits” like extra customer service, special promotions, access to tickets and events, and opportunities to meet PointsBet ambassadors. Membership in either of these VIP clubs is by invitation only and likely only of interest to the highest-volume players.
How to sign up for a PointsBet Casino account
Signing up at PointsBet’s online casino is a simple, quick process. Upon visiting the website, click the red “Sign Up” button to get started. If using the app (described below), you will find a similar button in the upper-right corner of the home screen. You will then need to provide some personal information:
- First and last name (and title)
- Email address
- Physical address
- Date of birth
- Last four digits of your Social Security number
You will also create a password and will have the option to enable multi-factor authentication to give your account added security. You will additionally have to tick a number of boxes showing that you agree to the site’s terms and conditions. These confirmations include verifying that you are at least 21 years old, the minimum age required to place bets in the states where PointsBet operates its online casino.
That’s all there is to it. You can deposit funds thereafter. Be aware that you’ll want to make sure you are creating an account in the state where you intend to play the games. That is, if you’re in Michigan, be sure to create your account at the PointsBet Casino Michigan site, and if in New Jersey go to the PointsBet Casino NJ site.
How to download the PointsBet Casino app
You can download the PointsBet Casino app directly from the website. The app, available for Android and iOS devices, is free to download and essentially includes all the same features as the browser-based version of the site.
Like the website, you will need to be sure you have enabled location services in order to use the app since you have to be physically located within a legal state in order to place real money wagers.
While the website allows you to toggle back and forth between the casino and sportsbook, there are actually separate apps for the PointsBet Casino and PointsBet Sportsbook. You can still use just one account to play both, but you’ll need to download both apps to your device if you want to use both.
PointsBet online casino site features
PointsBet Casino employs the same attractive red, white and black color scheme as its sportsbook. Overall, both the site and app feature an exceedingly plain design with little ornament or decoration.
Under a simple banner you’ll find games arranged into “Featured Games,” “Slots,” “Table Games,” and “Video Poker.” Given the currently small selection of games, you can see many of them on the home screen, although clicking “Show More” in each category takes you to separate screens for each game type.
Choosing a game brings it up in its own window that you can resize to fill your screen. Demo versions of the games enable players to try them out for free before wagering real money. Each of the games features high-quality graphics and animation along with sound effects that you can turn off if desired.
Along the very top are links to your account as well as a way to click over to the sportsbook, if desired. Meanwhile scrolling to the bottom brings up a number of useful links to email and live chat support, house rules, terms and conditions, responsible gambling information and depositing options.
PointsBet online casino game selection
When PointsBet first announced its plan to launch an online casino in the US, the company indicated an intention to use its own proprietary technology to provide a custom-built “in-house” gambling experience. That decision perhaps partly explains why PointsBet’s online casino has a relatively small selection of games at present, although expect the list of titles to grow going forward.
PointsBet Casino has games available in each of the most popular formats: slots, table games and video poker. While it has yet to launch live dealer games, PointsBet has forged an agreement with Evolution Gaming to power live dealer titles once it is ready to add them.
Online slots
Players will find several popular slot titles among those offered at PointsBet Casino. At present the Michigan site has 20 titles and the New Jersey site 12, with the games available on both the browser-based site and app.
Both states’ sites include the following slots:
- Cleopatra
- Cleopatra Gold
- Da Vinci Diamonds
- Double Diamond
- The 100,000 Pyramid
- Wolf Run
There does not appear to be any progressive jackpot slots available at present.
Table games
The selection of table games at PointsBet Casino is quite small as well. Both the Michigan casinos and New Jersey sites feature the same selections:
- Baccarat
- Blackjack (MI also has Multi-Hand Blackjack)
- Roulette
Video poker
You will also find a handful of video poker titles at PointsBet. Both Michigan and New Jersey feature the following:
- Game King Video Poker 9 in 1
- Triple Play Draw Poker
The MI site has a few additional video poker games from which to choose:
- Ten Play Draw Poker
- Triple Play Draw Poker
- Ultimate X Poker Triple Play
- Ultimate X Poker Five Play
- Ultimate X Poker Ten Play
As noted, PointsBet should introduce live dealer games as well at some point thanks to its partnership with Evolution Gaming. However no live dealer games are available as yet either in MI or NJ.
As you can see, the selection is quite limited, which at present makes PointsBet Casino less competitive, particularly in a mature online casino market like New Jersey. Even in Michigan, however, where PointsBet was among the first online casinos to launch, you’ll find a lot more games to choose from at other online casinos.
PointsBet Casino banking options
PointsBet gives users a number of ways both to deposit funds into their accounts and to withdraw funds later. Again, you can use a single account for both the casino and sportsbook.
Depositing
Here are the currently available methods to deposit money into your PointsBet account:
- Online banking
- PayNearMe
- PayPal
- ACH/e-check
- Cash at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment (NJ)
The online banking option has over 2,000 banks listed and simply requires finding your bank, filling out the necessary information, and indicating the amount you’d like to transfer. However, if your bank is not listed, you cannot deposit using the online banking option.
In New Jersey, the PointsBet sportsbook operates in conjunction with Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment, which is why you can perform banking functions in person at that location.
The minimum deposit is $5 for all methods. Maximums vary. For example, there is no maximum for PayPal or cash at Meadowlands, a $500-per-day limit on PayNearMe, and a user-specific “individual limit” imposed when using ACH/e-check.
Withdrawing
Most but not all of the available depositing methods will also work when trying to withdraw funds from PointsBet. Here are your withdrawal options:
- Online banking
- PayPal
- ACH/e-check
- Cash at Meadowlands (NJ)
Withdrawal times vary by method. Withdrawals using PayPal and ACH/e-check generally take one to two business days to complete. When using online banking, PointsBet needs one to two days for internal processing, then it takes another one to three days for funds to reach your account.
The minimum withdrawal amount is $5. There is no maximum limit on how much you can withdraw.
PointsBet Casino customer support
PointsBet online casino offers a few options for players seeking answers to questions or help with issues that may arise while playing on the site.
Clicking “Help” brings up a “Browse by category” option that takes you to a categorized list of FAQs and other information, although in truth much of it focuses on the sportsbook. There is an article on “Online Casino FAQs (Michigan and New Jersey)” that lists some answers to casino-specific questions.
PointsBet provides email support where you can send your questions or concerns. There is also live chat available both in the browser-based site and the app. Click “Live Chat,” enter your name, email and initial message, and a staff member will respond.
At present it is clear PointsBet is much more focused on its sports betting product than on its online casino, where there remains much room for growth going forward.
